Re: Next for Carousel???

Okay Carousel, let me spell it out for you; C-R-U-S-A-D-E-R !! Here is a FIGHTER with a fine COMBAT record, flown by USN and USMC pilots that had their aircraft painted in a VARIETY of COLORFUL schemes and that NO OTHER diecast manufacturer has released in 1/48 scale. Let's get those blowtorches loaded in the containers and GET THAT BOAT OVER HERE! ----(now that would be REALLY) Happy collecting, markko

Re: Next for Carousel???

A Crusader would be awesome, but I'm getting the impression Carousel is geared exclusively towards WW I and WW II fighters. Hope I'm wrong...

That's why my "realistic" hope is for a 1/48 P-39.

Yeah, so far, anyway...in that case, how about one that just barely missed WWII......the F8F Bearcat..I wish it could have gotten out the doors of Grumman just a bit sooner..That plane would have been an absolute terror, and their diecast numbers today would be as prolific as Mustangs,Spits, and '109s...but due to it's lateness to the party, mostly only av-geeks like us even know what it is...

...at least Easy Models is supposedly putting it out in 1/72nd..

Re: Next for Carousel???

It really would be nice to see a P-39 or even a F7F Tigercat & F8F Bearcat.
I think the Tigercat & Bearcat get the short end of the stick because the war ended before they came out in production.
The F8F prototypes were ordered in November 1943 and first flew on 21 August 1944, a mere nine months later. The first production aircraft was delivered in February 1945 and the first squadron was operational by 21 May 1945, but World War II was over before the aircraft saw combat service.
They both would of been great fighters during that war too. It be great if they made the Cats in 1:48.

I think that at this point in time, FVD. you're probably correct about WW I and WW II aircraft. As I stated before, I really have a gut feeling that Carousel is probably looking at the Mk.IX Spit, P-39, or possibly the "birdcage" F4U-1 Corsair (pretty limited on variety of liveries) as far as new castings are concerned, since none have been released as 1/48 die cast models yet. There are still some worthy examples of the aircraft that they have already chosen, so who knows when they will do some new castings? In any case, they would have to make a pretty dismal choice of whatever they choose to do next for me not to buy their new product. Surely though, at least EI, Hobbymaster, or even FM could give us a 1/48 Crusader--I think they would sell really well. Hell, they might even go over big in the French market--after all, they were smart enough to buy the real thing! ----Happy collecting, markko
