Re: Next for Carousel???

Has been surprisingly quiet on the Carousel front.. They have normally announced new planes by now...

Re: Next for Carousel???

markko, we trust you, don't worry. It's just that some of us really enjoy seeing personal collections when possible.

I'm glad to have an additional 1/48 collector in the forum. The majority is inclined towards 1/72 (there's a poll to prove it!), and they have good reasons for that, but a few of us like 1/48 better, at the very least for WW II fighters... So we always get exited when someone announces a new casting (or potential new casting) in 1/48. I hope that with HM, EI and Carousel on board, we'll start getting more choices than just FM.

Ah, well, quality has its price, my kind sir...

But I take your meaning. And indeed, I'm anxious to see the first HM 1/48s because it seems they may represent the best value for money in that scale. But we'll have to wait and see on that one.

It is certainly easier to pay the money when the quality of the model is top class. It does help to ease the pain a little.

The pain dissipates over time - like severe bruising, or one's youth for that matter ...

Re: Next for Carousel???

That is what I always say. I don't mind paying the money if the quality is there.

Re: Next for Carousel???

All of this suggests that Carousel might consider new directions. One would take it into larger aircraft- say attack planes such as Japan's "Val" or "Kate" and the USSR's IL-2M. These certainly are riskier propositions but I think that they would sell, especially if the quality was as good as Carousel's FW-190D. Another option is Korean and Vietnam War jets such as the U.S.A's F-80, F-84, "Panther" , A-6, A-7 and F-105, plus the appropriate USSR Migs -Mig-15, Mig-17,etc. The problem here is the sameness of their liveries. Bearing all of this in mind and despite the fact that I would love to see an "Oscar", "Tony", "Nate", MC-202 , LA-5 and Yak-9 in 1:48 scale diecast, this is unlikely ( the only possibility being a Hobby Master MC-202). So were I part of Carousel's management I would choose a safer bet like a P-39, and then gamble with a "Val" and an IL-2M .
