Awesome pics! I really like the camo, but I have to admit I think I like "red 4" better. The camo seems to take away from the details somewhat. I shall have "red 4"! I SHALL HAVE IT I SAY!!

I don't collect this scale but that model looks superb! No, I will not be tempted.

Looks pretty sweet, but am I alone in thinking these models are too pricey for what you get I picked up a few of the 109s in TFM sale, and I think that price point was fair to be honest. (I also have a P-40 at full retail).

At least this one has an opening canopy -- does it come with the silly IMHO 2D grass airfield base? I am suprisingly managing to hold off... that may change once y'all get yours and spout off about how awesome they are

I think the price point is reasonably fair given that EI models are approx. $10 more (and include stands). (Given the increasing prices e.g. FM, that seem to be the norm, I doubt that they'll be sold for much less in future.)

To be honest though, at the price being asked a model has to be really special before I consider buying it given that, for me, shipping adds nearly $30 to the price .

(I picked up three Carousel models at the Mule sale and they were definitely a bargain but it's unlikely that I would've paid full price for them - so you may indeed be right in feeling their pricing is perhaps a little on the high side .)

I agree, Red 4 has no equal ... !

Well mine will be here in a few hours and i can't wait to see it in person.
This is one neat paint camo scheme for a Fw 190D-13.
I have seen the plane in person at the Museum of Flight in Seattle,Washington and it's a very nice looking fighter plane.
Very happy to see Carousel 1 make this one and looks like they did a outstanding job as well.

Not trying to rain on the parade, I promise -- it is a striking scheme for sure.

I guess I don't think EA's models are only $10 "better" -- they, like you say, come with nice stands -- and I think more detail, too.

(IMHO FM's just a bit bonkers really with their new pricing scheme and I refuse to accept them as a rational point of reference for price comparisons, which may be wishful thinking on my part as it's reasonable for Carousel to think "if FM's charging $80 for their fighters we should be able to get $70". Dang FM! The flaw is likely with my logic, I suppose -- if Carousel did provide a nice stand I'd probably not have such an issue. Price is usually not a factor with me if I really like a model, such is my addiction, perhaps this is... progress )

PappyB, I think that EI make some of the finest die-cast out there (if not the finest) and the Carousel FW190 is on a par with their offerings. That said, Carousel need to include stands (without raising the price) if they wish to be truly competitive.

As for FM, they make some good models but their new pricing structure is in my opinion devoid of both reasoning and logic given the heightened competition ... .)

Pappy,
I agree that the Carousel stuff is a little pricey for what you get, and to be honest, if EI had went ahead with their Dora, I would have much preffered it to Carousel...
But I do like Carousels stuff (particularly their Luftwaffe pieces) and I purchased them mainly for the great job they did and the unique subjects..
EI is great for what they do and their pricing is fair, but they aren't interested in making German stuff yet, so I buy the next best thing, although at a little higher price for the value..
