Re: New Fokker Triplanes for 2007

Aaahhh... I was counting on you JP

You have got to be kidding me.....
Don't be so sad....It's a ugly plane anyway.....
Just kidding...I know my co-worker has one on pre-order and he always shows me his new planes when he gets them.
I'll try to take a few pictures when he shows me....Thats if no else shows a picture before then.
I just don't like the black and white stripes as much but i hope the camo streaking is good on the Dr.1.

WHAT! UGLY!!?? Bite your toungue! (Well, actually, I guess it could be ugly, we will have to see pictures). Yeah... if you can take pictures, that would be great, but don't knock yourself out... really I was only kidding.

Re: New Fokker Triplanes for 2007

I wonder if these have ever been marked down??? I have never seen discounts on the WWI stuff. Has anyone else? I am getting tired of waiting and just may dive in now.

I have a tingling sensation that the "Flyboys" Nieuports and Triplanes will be marked down soon....

I believe I' ve seen some marked down significantly on e-bay not too long ago. You should check... Personally I don't have much interest in those.

I got my Werner Voss Dr.1 and the Baracca Nieuport 11 in today - not marked down unfortunately - and they are beautiful. So my WW I collection is getting a big more interesting now. Can't wait for the Corgis coming out later this year (hopefully).

Re: New Fokker Triplanes for 2007

I also have the Italian Nieuport coming and look forward to adding it to my WWI group. The striped Udet Fokker caught my eye so I ordered that as well. I think the MB Voss Fokker is really good so I decided to use it as my example of that plane. I also passed on the red barons version until I can get a good look. So far I think my MB version will also fill that slot although the guy wires and wood grain propellers on the Carousel version are very tempting. I will get the Udet first and judge the line perhaps I will have to have both versions oops forgot I have the Model Power 1/48 baron also.....I would love to have the best example of one pilots plane though.

Re: New Fokker Triplanes for 2007

CA7123 Fokker Dr 1, Ernst Udet, Somme, France, 1918

I received the new Fokker Dr 1 yesterday. Boy oh boy oh boy, I ain't singing the 1:48 blues any longer!

Lordy lordy, what a beautiful model! C1's triplanes are out of this world!

The fit and finish are superb. I have said it before, and I will say it again, the finish is where C1 shines. The paint job is outstanding, first rate, extremely professional. The engine is super detailed, and what can I say about that prop that I haven't already said before (see the Nieuport thread): if it ain't wood, it sure fools me (yes, I know it ain't wood). The prop spins beautifully, along with the cylinder heads. The wheels are rubber and they roll. It is fully and delicately rigged. It includes nice detail such as hand holds on the wings and foot holds and (I believe hand holds) on the fuselage. The cockpit is spectacular (although the pilot, I will call him Herman, squeezes in so tightly that all the cockpit detail disappears).

Now to the fun part: those twin guns! I thought they would be molded black rubber. NOOO!! They have to be photo etched metal! What do you call that gizmo that cools / encircles the barrel?? Anyway, it is delicately crafted with all those tiny little holes, you can see daylight through them!! There is a target window between them also. What a superb touch! This detail makes all the difference in the world. The beauty is in the detail here.

Except for the pale rubber pilot, I have no quibbles here. This model is outstanding! If you do not have a C1 bi/tri plane, you do not know what you are missing. I know they are pricey, but they are packed with intricate, beautiful detail. This ain't cheap, but I don't mind paying for it. C'mon C1, release a Nieuport 17 with full rigging!! Those flyboy models are OK, but the real deal is the detailed rigged models!
