Re: Custom Stand for Galland's 109

I got my Galland 109 and Barkhorn 190 and a P-38 stand (same as B-25).. The "black plug" on the end of the stand fits the 109, but the screw hole/threads are different on the 190 (shallower/smaller) so it won't fit..
Not a bad deal for the 109, but I would still like to get a "universal" stand to fit most/all of the Carousel planes..

Re: Custom Stand for Galland's 109

No kidding Card...
I have so many more in the attic it's not funny.
I just bought my friends other curio that he was selling so i can take some down and display them.
At the moment my Galland is the only 1/48 German fighter displayed....No more room in my curio or office either.
This hobby really takes up a lot of space ya know...

Tell me about it ... . That's one of the reasons I've given up on collecting 1/72 to focus on 1/48 and 1/32, which may take up a lot of space but are limited in variety, hence fewer to manage .

I have to admit that it's quite a good feeling not being overly tempted to buy all the latest and greatest offerings in 1/72 (I do make an exception for 1/72 modern military though, which are office based e.g. Century F14 Tomcat is very tempting - it is a Tomcat after all ).

The only 1/72 WWII warbirds I currently have on display are my Dragons, together with a few IXO and the HM Dauntless and Corgi silver Swordfish - all the rest are safely boxed and packed away .

I agree Harry: a universal stand would be terrific, but I am not optimistic C1 will produce one.

Last night I experimented a bit with my Swordfish stand and my C1 Dora. While the hole on the Dora is shallow, the peg on the stand is nearly the right width (just too long). I think if the peg were trimmed, it just might work. There is one problem though: the nose would be heavy on the stand. To overcome this, the peg might be wrapped with something (like modeling tape) to creat a super tight fit, and then some small thread connecting from the base of the stand to the tailwheel of the model would prevent it from taking a nose dive. (NO JOKES SKUNKY!! )

Right now I only have one Swordfish and I want my stand for it. When I receive my next Swordfish, I will attempt this modification and then post the result.

Re: Custom Stand for Galland's 109

I really don't know why Carousel can't or won't make a stand for their range - sell it seperately if you must, but just make the damn thing so that our aircraft can take flight . (A stylish stand please like the ones from EI .)

I agree Card!! I wrote Carousel a letter to this effect; I just might post it on MHII as "An Open Letter To Carousel 1."
