Galland's 109 is one of the best there is in 1:48.

After receiving both the Galland and Schroer (desert) Bf109Es from the Mule sale, I have to say that I'm extremely happy and impressed with what I've seen from Carousel 1 thus far. These are both great pieces of die-cast as is the FW190 Red 4 (just had to mention that again ) and take pride of place in my 1/48 collection .

You have to apply the swastika's to this model? Is this typical of all the carousels 109's? Why is this?

All the first release C1 models (all 109s) had the water-slide self-apply swazis... the second wave (Doras) had them pre-applied.
