Re: Focke-Wulf Fw190D-11 "Red 4"

Well the great Cardinal spoke and I took his advice!! TODAY THE P40 AND DORA ARRIVED!!! Hello Cardo, I am now looking fondly down at the Dora sitting on my desk. In a word its SUPERB. I love it, its just a perfect diecast. However sarcasm is alive and well at Jims humble abode. Lorraine wanted to know why it had its pyjama bottoms on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway back to the plot. You did me a favour with this one Cardo ,the detailing is of a very high standard. The P40 is the heaviest piece of diecast I have every had a hold of. It must be solid zinc all the way through. I am really impressed with Carousel models. If I had to offer a little adverse comment it would be that I would have liked to see a little more erm whats the description ? Ah yes twiddly bits. Flaps and rudder moving ,that sort of thing, however I am more than happy with them as they are so no complaints from me. Never satisfied some folk are they? I must add that they are very well packaged and even the post office couldnt damage them in transit.
Space has now become a pressing issue, so off I go in the morning to Ikea. "WE" have decided I can have a small corner display unit for the lounge, Whoopeeee

Congrats Jim, that FW190 needs to be appropriately displayed as keeping it in its box would be a travesty. By the way, as a result of your continual praise of the P40 I decided to take a closer look at the desert camo. Caldwell one (Carousel), on sale at the FM, and ended up buying one (I'll hopefully get it next week ).

So, take comfort in the fact that the advice/recommendation score is 1 - 1 .

Re: Focke-Wulf Fw190D-11 "Red 4"

Hello Cardinal, I bought the Boyington P40. Its the heaviest piece of diecast I have for its size. Its a very nice model but I am biased I suppose. I like the 1/48 scale it proves the theory that the smaller the scale the more the proportions are distorted. The 1/48 P40 really brings out the look of the P40 better than the 1/72 scale.
At the moment the heat is on over here, I have been accused of taking over the house with my hobby!!!!!!
Feathers have been ruffled I am afraid. it looks like I will have to spoil her for a while.

I am sure you will enjoy the P40 , once again thank you for the hot tip about the Dora. one each sounds good to me.

God Bless America.

Congrats Jim,
It's about time you got a Dora...Of all the ones they make that one is the best pick.
Now that means your going to start a new line of 1:48 soon.

You've attained true die-cast enlightenment my friends - I've seen the future and it's definitely 1/48 ...

I've seen inlightenment too Cardo!! I couldn't agree with you more. The D-13 comes out this month... mine's on pre-order. Think of this: HM's pre-war Buffalo next to EI's pre-war Navy Texan... mmmmm. And then HM's Spitfire, EI's T-Bolt... I love 1:48!!!

Yep ,sucked in again. How on earth do I find the space? Well it looks like I will have to get to work up in the loft. A massive task I fear.
