Re: GMP Ferrari 330 P4

$270USD, which puts it in CMC and EXOTO territory. I don't think I'll be getting one, unless GMP will keep production numbers under 500 AND the final product will look better than hastily assembled prototype. I like GMP cars, but despite high level of detail they lack finesse of CMC and EXOTO, and the quality of materials as well as finishing could be better. $270US is twice the price of regular GMP, and I would like to think that it's attributed more to "increased everything" rather than licensing costs.

Regards,

Sergey

It's a new line, called the "Masterpiece" collection, so there is probably not much logical validity in comparing it to the current line of $100-a-pop GTOs, Camaros, etc. I would venture to guess it's the 700+ individual pieces which led to the increased cost.

It never ceases to amaze me that people will make a buy/not buy decision based on a prototype. I guess the concept of a prototype eludes some....

700+ parts, and I believe CMC touts its models to have 1,000+ parts. I guess they keep count of individual molecules in tires or something in that vein. Like I've pointed out, I need to see pics of production sample, but $270USD is a lot of coin since I've never paid more then $150USD for any model in my collection.

Regards,

Sergey

Re: GMP Ferrari 330 P4

I mean each model is comprised of 700+ individual pieces.

No, not quite 1,000 pieces...but I'll bet the current lineup of GTOs, etc. don't even come close to 700 pieces.

Generally, I make the decision to buy or not buy when I am holding one in my hand......

Yep. A few actually, and they have lots of CMC, Exoto and GMP.

Re: GMP Ferrari 330 P4

I agree. GMP is the best of the $100-$150 price niche. I really like their Mopar models. I personally think that either Exoto or CMC are the best of the mass-produced models, though. But you're looking at nearly $300 retail per model for Exoto or CMC...and they don't really do any domestic street cars, so no GTOs or Mopars....

But overall, without having seen more than just a pic of the new GMP Ferrari, I have high hopes for this new model. Plus, if you want this particular car, GMP is the only game in town since no one else makes it.
