Hornchurch

Just found this photo of the 1st Sun Star RT, 'Acquisition Lust' just got a bit stronger for me. Checking out the destination board, my Mum & Dad used to play on Clapham Common in the 1930's, as did I in the early 60's Game over

Hi Nimrod,

Did you pay the FULL 'Ton-Fifty' for this R.T. ??????????

I still can't get my head round as to WHY they're suggesting a £150 RRP on the RT... & yet the RM (Routemaster) is generally accepted as a £125 RRP "'but everyone-stocks-it-for-£100 or less'" outlook ?????????????

I KNOW Zinc prices have increased, but I've also heard 'on the Grapevine' that they realise most foilk don't wanna 'Go' above the £100 barrier (generally-speaking)

Also, somewhat bothers me, that you've ONLY given your 'RT' an 8/10 rating ??????????

If I was paying £150 RRP , I'd want it to 'make Tea & toast, & be 'Gold-Lined' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO, Nim'..... WHY only 8/10 as opposed to 10/10 ?????????????

What are the shortfalls ?????????

I'd LOVE to know how well this is selling, in terms of numbers ?

A WW.II bus in that scale's a rarity !

Hi Hornchurch,

I got my RT from Time Tunnel with free postage as far as my rating goes the 8 out of 10 is down to the rear platform on the model which does not taper as on the real vehicle & IMHO the radiator is just a little too square but I am picking gnats droppings out of pepper here.
The quality of finish & fit are first class on my example & quite simply I can not take my eyes off it, may be I was a little harsh giving it only an 8 out of 10 as IMHO it does put all of my RMs in the shade for quality & sheer presence so a revised assesment...9 out of 10... go & buy one you will love it

Smile Re: Sunstar London Bus RT Type

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction chaps. Very cool. Great pic there Dilli. We had similar busses here until the seventies here if memory serves. I remember dodging the conductor coming from school in an attempt to put my fare to better use.
