Mustang Lovers: New Osprey Book

Osprey published a new book in June 2006: Aviation Elite Units: VERY LONG RANGE P-51 MUSTANG UNITS OF THE PACIFIC WAR by Carl Molesworth.

It is a gem of history, pictures, and the usual drawings of the groups and squadrons based on Iwo Jima. (Did you know the Japanese ground-attacked a fighter group at Central Field? There were losses to pilots and crews.)

You will not be disappointed in the book.

Don't have it yet. Guess I'll have to get it. I only have about 25 books on the Mustang.

Re: Mustang Lovers: New Osprey Book

Waltz was telling me about this book the other day, I wonder if he is still looking for it?

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Red Tails

Thanks for the additional information. The book on the Red Tails will be published. I'll have to add that one, too. I have only 18 books on the Mustang. There are more? It's another addiction. I can feel it coming.

Re: Mustang Lovers: New Osprey Book

I just got the book from amazon. None of the local barnes and nobles had it stock when it came out, on my birthday! so i ordered it, and received it a few days ago. i haven't had a chance to really sit down and go through it, but i am just thrilled about it. pto mustangs are probably my favorite ww2 aircraft. i don't know why, i love the schemes i guess, and it's a pretty obscure yet important part of the war. i'm really looking forward to taking some time this weekend, laying in bed going through this book.

Amazon and Others

I have found my best deals at Amazon and the used booksellers they use. If you are looking to complete or start an Osprey collection, try the used booksellers available.

The book "Mustang Aces of the Ninth & Fifteenth Air Forces" ....was included with the GMP 1/35th P-51 "Duchess Arlene" I recently purchased. I could use more reference materials about the exploits of the Tuskegee Airmen definitely. I heard/read ol' George Lucas (of Star Wars fame) is planning a movie about them soon.

Do you have the one published by Air Life books? I got one from a discount shop in my AO not too long ago. The Air Life series of books are amazing!
