Re: Berkeley strikes again!

Marines out, trans-gender conference in. What a town!! Someone please cut all federal aid and spending to this town.

But what about all the regular folk who live in Berkeley? Should the actions of a few tarnish all?

Perhaps the core issue here is that a city government determined (or attempted to determine) whose speech and legal actions (recruiting) to repress, and whose speech and political views was to receive special favorable treatment (Code Pink).

Cogent and succinct.

Re: Berkeley strikes again!

Very dangerous stuff--can you think of any similar acts from relatively recent history?!

Is that a rhetorical question?

Re: Berkeley strikes again!

You definitely make a good point, Folgore.......what you say may well, and most likely does, apply to regular rank and file democrats, but, when you look at the Democratic leadership in both the House and Senate, they are, for the most part (Lieberman would be one outstanding exception), in my opinion (backed up by their own statements) anti-military. They talk a good talk of "supporting the troops" but they mostly do everything in their power to do the exact opposite.

That IS WHY this country can't really afford to have Demoncrats sitting in the White House in 08'....and if anybody has a hard time accepting that, well then 'tough nuts'!!!

Re: Berkeley strikes again!

The possible COA going around my MCCC class is VP Cheney resigning in a few months due to 'health problems'. Pres. Bush then selects...wait for it....John McCain as the new VP. Does the Pres. have the authority to do so, or does Congress have to approve of a new VP choice, such as in Supreme Court nominees?

President can choose whomever he wants for a new VP.

No--Congressional approval is required. If not John Connally would have been the VP after Agnew, and ultimately the President. See:

U.S. Senate: Art & History Home > Gerald R. Ford, 40th Vice President (1973-1974)

Kampfgruppe Vice Kommandir

I really don't think we have to worry about that...It seems the Demos don't have anything for November anyway...Clinton or Bama ...
Now back to the topic...Berkeley would change in heartbeat about the Marines if a earthquake hit there..The Marines would be there to help them..

Well where are these good folks?? I haven't heard of anyone who has stood up to say this is wrong. Sorta like another group of folks, but we wont go there. So yes, a lack of action by these "good" people counts against them.
