This is so sad he just moved here last summer and i know his son Mike that lives here in Redding.. I was lucky to meet his father Ray...We are slowly losing our hero's of WWII.. | Re: Redding Marine helped raise first Iwo Jima flag dies I'm grateful that Clint Eastwood made the movie "Flags of our Fathers" as this was a story I never knew about until seeing the film. I'm sure he and his family were pleased to have seen the movie made & the true story of the first flag raising on Iwo Jima as millions worldwide now know what was achieved by these brave Marines in that terrible campaign. | ||||||||||||||
