This Day In History:

The Supreme Court's decision in this case ended Florida's statewide ballot recount and allowed Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris to certify George W. Bush as the winner of Florida's 25 electoral votes. These votes gave Bush a majority of the Electoral College with 271 votes and enabled him to win the US Presidency. Though Gore received 543,816 more votes than Bush, his defeat in the Electoral College lost him the presidency. The court cited what reason for stopping the recount?

Though we are the 4th most populas state in the Union, it is still a goober state with stupid things like this. Katherine Harris is a big time Republican and even ran for Govenor back in the last election and running her mouth with stupid things like "The Democrats are the devil", etc....and George Dubbah's brother, ole Jeb was also govenor at that time (2x elected). Sooooooooo no wonder ole GW Bush won!
When the Electoral College first started back in the 1790's or early 1800's there was a reason to have it. Nowadays it is very out dated and needs to be done away with. Just like the "Coaches Poll" in college football. Our voting systems needs to be revamped for sure. It should be by POPULAR VOTE ONLY and not by ELECTORAL VOTE.
Before, Florida was a retirement state for alot of the seniors, but in the past 20 years when you hear the word "senior" it usually refers to "man" (mister) and not a "retiree or a senior citizen". Boy, has time changed.

And we wanted the current "Goober"? Twice even? He couldn't even write a 500 word essay on "Global Warming", since he never even heard of it, let alone doing a documentry on it. He probably thinks that "global warming" is putting a 'snow-globe' in the oven.

Re: This Day In History:

Maybe they stopped the recount because they realised that the people complaining about the "hanging chads" were really a bunch of imbeciles, and should not have been allowed to vote in the first place due to the fact that they probably couldn't pass a basic intelligence test?
Thank God for the Electoral College! It is more necessary than ever!
