This Day In History: Battle of Britain Is Won

The Battle of Britain was the first major German failure in WWII. The Royal Air Force (RAF), outgunned and outmanned, defeated the German Luftwaffe and thwarted Hitler's plan for an amphibious invasion, which he had hoped would put a quick end to the war. The event was not only a testament to the courage of British pilots, but it also marked the first time a major battle was fought entirely in the air. What technology was used for the first time during this battle?

Let us not forget my grandmas nettle tea!
She invented it when rationing came in over here. It was free, full of iron and good for the complextion.

The radar was helpful too.

God Bless America.

Re: This Day In History: Battle of Britain Is Won

The entire western world underestimates the importance of this day. The RAF's defeat of the Luftwaffe is of seminal importance for western society. Not only did the RAF save Britain, I don't think it a stretch to say it saved the war for the Allies, and thus for Europe. Thank God for the Spits, Hurris, radar, leadership, Winston Churchill, the brave pilots and crews, and the dogged, determined effort of the British people.

Totally agree with your post Elmer, I just would add Hugh Dowding and Keith Park at the head of that list!
