Angry **This Is So Sad Guys** F-14 Will Be Gone In 6 Months

I just read this today since i have not been reading the Tailhook in a few weeks and i'm going to cry..
My Favorite modern fighter is going to be destroyed ....
JP

From LCDR Kevin "Proton" McLaughlin, the Colorado Strike Force Coordinator...
A local photographer in Tucson is documenting the aircraft in the Boneyard, and the people who flew them. Her name is Pam Reed, and all of her information, along with some of the Boneyard work is shown on her web site, www.alteregoimages.com She is particularly interested in contacting Former F-14 and A-4 pilots, RIOs, as the aircraft stored in the Boneyard are on the chopping block as we speak.
Because of the Iran connection, the boneyard is destroying the F-14s themselves to prevent spare parts leaving the country. The program started yesterday, and I saw what was left of the first aircraft to be torn apart. Not pretty. With one a day scheduled, it is likely that all the F-14s will be gone within 6 months.
The A-4s will be block sold to the highest bidder and can go quicker. If you can get the word out to some of your Tailhook buds, with the web site information and a request to contact Pam, she would really appreciate it. It would mean a trip to Tucson to be photographed, but yesterday, there was a group seven former Navy pilots that were pictured with the A-3D and the F-8s. One was from Boston, one from Monterey, two more from the east coast, and they were all willing to travel to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

Shoot, I say let them fly those things. That will provide more target practice for our F-22s who will take them out in the first hour ..They'll never know what hit them. And if they stay on the ground, a few JADMS will take care of that.

I thought the same thing, FVD...but I just hated the idea of any of our guys having to shoot a Tomcat down.......but hey.....what the hell? They're Iranians (they can always eject)... Splash 'em, boys!!! .... It would be a fitting end...

Think the Navy would give each of us a Tomcat if we asked nicely?

Strange really, if the 'foreign' Tomcats are such a threat why did the US disband theirs in the first place (I know, maintenance costs etc but still). I agree with FVD, the F22s are likely to deal with them swiftly and painfully in any potential confrontation.

I sincerely hope that every aviation museum in the US will be offered at least one F14 for their collection as this aircraft is possibly the finest looking jet fighter ever made (with great performance to match) .

Very, very sad news .

Yes ,
I'll take one and put it in my back yard they can take the cockpit out of it and all the goodies if they want.
Just don't destroy the darn plane....Please give one to me...

Dont get your hope up yet on that, as Starman showed me film of an F-18 shooting down an F-22 in a mach dogfight.

Right on, FVD. The Iranian F-14s are going to be all show, no go. Wheels up and we'll use them as modern day clay pigeons.
