Pics Ra-5c Vigilante On Display At Sanford Int Fl

I shot some pics of the RA-5C Vigilante now on display at Sanford Int Airport here in sunny Florida.
The aircraft is on display because Sanford Int used to be NAS Sanford from WWII through Vietnam.
Word has it some of NAS Sanfords WWII aircraft are being restored & will soon be on display next to the Vigilante.

Great piccies Phantom, that bird can 1000mph just sitting there. Well it sure looks like it is.

A very beautiful aircraft indeed.

BTW one day I would like to get over to Kermits place, it looks like a cool place to visit. (I mean the museum not the Water Lilly

God Bless America.

Hi Phantom Phan, how are you? These are great pictures. As coincidence would have it, I just bought the Trumpeter 1/48 sclae kit of the RA-5C recently. Your pictures are giving me even more incentive to have it built ASAP. Thankfully I have a freind here who's an expert model builder, he'll do it more justice than I could.

Thanks again for posting these. What a beautiful jet!

The Vigi was a beast, and quite possibly the prettiest aircraft to ever grace the decks of a carrier....I would love to see this in diecast..Unfortunately, aircraft with a designation beginning with 'R' are pretty much spotlighted in anonymity in the diecast world...

Yes, ain't that the truth...

However, I think there may be a glimmer of hope with Century Wings, based on their releasing the A-6 Intruder. Not an "R" plane of course, but one that I would have given up for dead as far as diecast is concerned. So maybe, just maybe, if they continue with their "US Navy of the 70s/80s" train of thought, someday we might see an RA-5C from them (probably after an A-7 and F-8).

Now you are talking, F-8!

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Plenty of paint jobs for the bomber version. If those sell, the recce birds will follow...

Thumbs up Re: Pics Ra-5c Vigilante On Display At Sanford Int Fl

Great pics Phantom Phan! Clearly you're on a roll. Very cool. I've never really taken an interest in some of the older US jet aircraft but I reckon I've been losing out! There's some really cool birds out there.
