Re: San Francisco Fleet Week 2008

Thx Trex, yes, I do -- I don't get out and enjoy it as much as I should, but when I do...

And a clear-air day in s. cal is indeed something to celebrate

Amen to that! Most people don't realize that S. Cal. is surrounded by mountains and makes a more gorgeous view than the ocean on a clear day......a shame!

It was very windy up here at the Sierra Nevada foothills today as well, but overall a perfect and gorgeous day
high-lighted by a couple of black T-38 fly-by's !

Must've been a sight Fly! I do miss the Hornets that used to fly out of old El Toro. We sometimes get an occasional Galaxy and a few C-17's flying directly overhead towards Los Al or Long Beach though.

That F-86 is sharp looking....I like those over head shots...I agree the Blue Angels are the Best of the Best...The T-Birds are good too but the Blue Angels blue scheme just looks a little better and easy to see in the air during their shows too.

George Preddy was......Just the greatest fighter pilot who ever squinted through a gunsight.
He was a complete fighter pilot.......Colonel John C. Meyer Deputy Commander of the 352nd.

And they do a couple more dramatic maneuvers, too, but I agree the color is part of what makes me like them better...the higher contrast makes them a bit easier to photograph, too. Though, I do prefer the F-16 to the F/A-18.

Hey Steve, did you happen to see any 'mock dogfights' between the Sabre and a MiG-15 over at that show? I know from previous airshow venues I've been to whenever the F-86 made its appearance, it's bound to be jumped by a MiG-15!

Hecka lots of fun that was!!!

No, didn't happen on Friday -- or the weekend far as I know. I certainly would have heard about that in my airshow board prowls.... that would have been cool. I know a Mig has participated before, but not this year.
