Did the Fokker receive a "kill" for this?....

Re: Bratislave air show mid air

That sucks about the Red Baron's aircarft. I did not realize it lasted that long.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

It was my understanding that the Red Barons Fokker was torn to pieces by soldiers/souvenier hunters shortly after his death. It did not make it off the battlefield intact so I am told.

He apparently had more that one, as I have read the story of one of his Fokkers being destroyed in the bombing also.

Re: Bratislave air show mid air

Apart from the tragic loss of life in times of war, the loss of cultural and historical artefacts is something that lessens the common heritage of humankind as a whole .

On a positive note, the resilience of human beings never ceases to amaze me as they often try to restore that which has been reduced to rubble e.g. the Frauenkirche in Dresden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dresden_Frauenkirche) and Monte Cassino in Italy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Cassino.

(I've also read that Field Marshall Kesselring played a considerable role in facilitating the safeguarding of vast quantities of the cultural treasures of Italy - not only from destruction, but also from the greedy hands of Goering who had few scruples in stealing and plundering any artwork that he and his minions could locate.)

One sheep to rule them all ...

Louie,
Your right about that on 425/17 the plane MVR was killed in.
But his other plane Fok Dr.1 152/17 was in the Zeughaus Museum in Germany.
Here is a pic i got from a book that shows 152/17 around 1938.
This is the Dr.1 that was destroyed in bombings during the second World War.
