Re: Travis AFB open house this weekend

They're still together? Didn't know that....

And here I am thinking there's an air show up there featuring the T-birds...

I'm hoping to hit the show for the day Sunday, which is supposed to be a tad cooler than Saturday, which is supposed to be sweltering.............

Re: Travis AFB open house this weekend

All in all a really good show! I went on Sunday and was like the fourth person in the gate... had the place to myself, least it felt like it, for an hour or so!

Got a great spot to the right of the T-birds hotramp -- nice mix of stuff: Aerobatics, military demos, warbirds, T-birds... Highlights to me were the JR Corsair (never seen a corsair fly before and this has to be the coolest scheme, too), and the F-86!!!!! Neither of these were listed on the performer list either. Also, two b-25s instead of one -- Heavenly Body and Executive Suite. The A-10 and Rhino demos were killer.

It got pretty hot in the afternoon, and the T-bird routine kind of left me flat -- a major delay at the start due to mechanical issues didn't help. Well-organized show though, was outta there pretty easily... after catching the departures of most of the warbirds.

Pics of the T-birds -- warbird shots to come when I have time. See the whole t-bird set here if you like: dabspk : photos : Travis AFB Air Expo 2008- powered by SmugMug

Thanks for shaing the great pictures for those of us who didn't make it to the show, Steve. As usual they turned out GREAT! I hear you about the Corsair, last one I saw flying

Re: Travis AFB open house this weekend

Great pics Pappy!

Saw on the Travis Airshow website something about a C-133 retirement. Saw the tail of one of these in one of your T-Birds shots. Did the C-133 fly? Any special festivities for the C-133?

No matter how many times I've seen the T-birds routine it never gets old to me.

Keep'em flying.
