Waddington 2008

I attended the RAF Waddington show on Saturday (plus caught a few landing on Friday afternoon). A great show which saw the return to the skies of the mighty Avro Vulcan.

Here are my Waddington shots - helicopters first. It was great to see a RN Merlin, an impressive beast.

Waddington photo's -prop's

Here are the propeller engined aircraft I photographed - nice to see the Spitfire and Hurricane. The Tucano's were an impressive formation.

Waddington photo's - vintage jet's

Hunters, a Gnat, a Meteor and Jet Provests - a great turn out of vintage jets!

Waddington photo's - overseas visitor's

A diminishing number of overseas jets. Why no F-18 display? The Mirage 2000 was, as usual, superb.

Waddington photo's - the Vulcan

The highlight was, of course, the mighty Vulcan. You could feel the excitement amongst the crowd when it was towed onto the runway. When those Olympus engines spooled up it was almost to good to be true - the first air show display for 15 years. The applause from the crowd when it took off, flew past and eventually landed said it all. The only 'downer' for me was the music played when she was flying - the Olympus engines were providing all the beautiful sounds.

The two Avro's in formation was genius.

Re: Waddington 2008

Shuttle , your photography is top class.

Wonderful photos photos of the Vulcan, one of the most awesome planes ever built.
It seems that there was some good weather at Waddi, I stayed at home (about 2 hours away and it rained most of the weekend.

Now I wished I had gone.

Duxford Legends for me next week, are you going?

God Bless America.

Ha, Ha, Jim way funny !!!!!!!!!!!!!

As dear ol' Shuttle will tell ya.. (I met him at the Hobbymaster stand).. it Pi$$ed-it down on Sat' (1st-Half !)

Bear in mind - my £ 35 point & snap Digi-cam (from Tesco's) AIN'T gonna provide you with pix anywhere near as good, or high-quality as Shuttle's excellent pictures have, but you'll (no-doubt) get the message, as to what it was like for the 1st-Half of the show........

Gene Kelly's dance routine had NOTHING on this !

Re: Waddington 2008

Thanks for the piccies Hornchurch,
it seems that we are having yet another washout of a summer.

Fingers crossed for good weather at Duxford next weekend.
That show costs a small fortune to attend and so good weather is obviously vital as with any air show.

God Bless America.
