Friendly Foes above the Falls

Was driving by the Russel Group air field today just south of Niagara Falls and they are getting things set up for their annual air show this week end. Seen a Harvard coming in for a landing and spotted the Spitfire and Bf 109E sitting out between the hangers. Stopped on the side of the road and took a couple of pics of the Hurricane, looks like there are still doing some work to it to get it ready for the show. The weather is not promising this week end and I am hoping to get up to Hamilton for the air show at The Canadian War Plane Heritage Museum, Sunday looks the best, might stop by the Russel Group show Saturday if the weather holds out.

Cool pix Rick. Look for the CWH and Russell to join forces in their flying displays this week. Russell going up to Hamilton then CWH going down to Russell. Should see Lanc Spit and Hurricane fly together. Just like the old days of CWH airshows.

Great looking photos of the Hawker Hurricane, wish they had something like that in my part of the country.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Friendly Foes above the Falls

I've said it multiple times before, but their 109E is a beautiful plane to see fly! I believe it is the only airworthy BOB veteran 109 still left with an original Daimler engine. Truly a sight to see and I can't wait to see it again up at Thunder Over Michigan.

Nice pics of the Hurricane kabelace!

The sound of the Daimler engine in the 109 is very distinct especially when you are use to hearing the Merlin's in the Spits, Hurricanes and Mustangs. I believe that the Russell group 109 is the only 109 E flying.
