Thunder Over Michigan 2008

Just checked their website and am happy to see that the Messerschmitt Bf-109E "White 14" from the Russell Group and the Canadian Avro Lancaster will once again be at this year's show along with several P-47s. I was at the 2006 show when it was there and the sound of its Daimler engine is extremely different than the sound of other period warbirds engines. I will be attending this year again, will anyone else be there?

I was there in 2004, 2006 and 2007. If it is the smaller show like it was in 2006 - I will make the trip. If it is the big, commercial blow out like last year, I will pass.

That mock WWII battle in 2006 with the P-47/P-51 jabo runs was probably one of the coolest airshow events that I have ever seen. I sure hope they do that again!

This was a big topic last year and if you search the airshow catagory I think you'll find some more similar opinions.

Yes, I'll go too but only if it's small and I can sit under the B-52

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

Re: Thunder Over Michigan 2008

Impressive list of aircraft slotted for this event. Should have a nice line up of P-47s and B-17s.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Thunder Over Michigan 2008

I'll be there. First time I'll be leaving my own state to go to an airshow, and it IS in Michigan, but what can I tell you.......sounds like a great time, and should only take around three hours or so to get there. Can't pass up the chance to see a 109 flying, etc. Never seen a Sopwith 1-1/2 Strutter before either.

Anybody know if the Fokker Tripes and the Sopwith have real rotary engines?
