Re: Thunder Over Michigan 2008

Thanks for posting the photos gentlemen.

Anyone know if the black Mig is based on an actual livery?

Love the -B model Old Crow but it sure could use some white sidewall tires.

Re: Thunder Over Michigan 2008

Thunder Show was another success. Met and talked with brunowbe for a few minutes (nice to meet you). Thanks for standing me up Captain Eddie.

Sorry 'bout that, Parsig. I spent some time now and then in a chair under the port wing of the B 52 but never saw you, and never saw Brunowbe (to the best of my knowledge) either!

The main draw for me was the Bf 109. Had never seen one fly before. I can now say I did, and one with the original Daimler-Benz engine! I was dissapointed that the WW I birds did not make it, however. Oh well, there will be the WW I show at the Air Force Museum in Dayton next year.

Brun -- you can start a flickr or phanfare account for free and upload your pics in batches and then just post a link.... and you can post individual pics from those accounts here, too. (if you go through the forum hosting I suggest you resize the images before uploading... saves a lot of time and there's really no need for bigger than 1280 x 1024 or even 1024 x 768).

Looks like it was a fun show!

By the way, Jim, I saw the P-51 "Gentleman Jim" at the airshow, and immediately thought of you, as you are a Jim, and most certainly a gentleman!

The show was quite fun. How do you resize the pics? I'm not exactly technologically gifted when it comes to these doohickeys.

Same here! I really liked when it came in low during the morning ground battle. If I was better with a camera, I would have liked to have snapped a pic of it, but I couldn't get it in my viewfinder (the glare of the sun prevented that). This is the 2nd time I've seen this 109 and it is an impressive bird. I wish Corgi would release a 1/72 model of it. You would think that they would since it is the only surviving airworthy 109 E variant (at least I believe it is).

You need an image editing program -- picasa is free:

Picasa - free photo editing and photo management software

resizing is usually pretty simple -- I've not used this program, as I have photoshop, but you should be able to find all sorts of how-to info via google...

Thanks for the info and advice Pappy. I will toy around with this in the next few days.

Re: Thunder Over Michigan 2008

Sorry I didn't get to meet anyone also - was busy working our booth (honorflightmichigan.com) down by the re-enactor area. I did get to the flight line for most of the events though and will try and get to posting some pics myself sometime this week.
