Wooooohoooooo! That was quite a lunch treat I had today watching the "Blue Angels" practicing overhead for tomorrow's airshow at Mather Field.

What's the weather looking like up there Fly?

Dark lingering clouds towards the Sierra foothills, but from where I sat...gorgeous cumulus clouds with lots of sunshine! Yeah baby!

All the more reason for you to come down here to the airshow this weekend at Mather.

Re: Mather Field Airshow this weekend

Well, I hit the show yesterday -- despite the weather prognosticators saying there was a 70% chance of rain... and man, what a beautiful day! Cool temps, light breeze, lots of big cumulous clouds that made for some truly dramatic viewing -- if terribly challenging photography conditions. But the rain held off and it was all in all a perfect day to take in an air show.

The show was a bit short compared with last year but there were a few things I've never seen before -- the Blues for one, I don't think I have ever seen 'em. Least not for 20-some years, so that was a thrill (that said, I think the T-birds put on a better "show").

Seeing the C-130 "Fat Albert" do its thing was also very cool -- and the Harrier was an ear-splitting experience I shall never forget. (First time at an air show that I wished I had ear plugs... wow!).

Here's a shot from the Blues routine. I'll post more when I can. Got scads to sort through.
