Freindly Foes Above the Falls

Totally forgot to post about this. This weekend in just outside of Niagara Falls will be the air show at the Russel Group airfield. With his aircraft collection plus the Lancaster From Hamilton and others. The Commemorative Air Force is sending a SBD, B-17, P-51, C 47 and a JU 52. I'm hoping that they are going to be landing there as it is a grass strip. The SBD attended last years show and use the grass and there was another B-17 Memphis Bell knock off that also used it. Really want to get a good look at the JU 52. The weather is forecast to be be sunny and 21, 22C around 80F or so in other word's perfect. Hope to be there Saturday will be trying to check it out on Friday, hopefully I'm working in the area, might have to make a detour.

I'm jealous kabelace. I'd love to see the Russell collection fly; his beautiful Spitfire and Hurricane, and most notably the Bf-109E! Be sure to post some pics for us!

Re: Freindly Foes Above the Falls

Well managed to sneak away for a few hours today to check out the show. A little disappointed that the JU 52 didn't show, wanted to get a close look at one. Anyway here's a few pics to start.
First off some from The Great War Flying Museum WW I aircraft. They were just coming in for a landing as I arrived. Caused the traffic an the highway to slow down quite a lot as they were doing there show.

Re: Freindly Foes Above the Falls

Here's some from the Russell Aviation Group Collection. Didn't get a good shot of the Spitfire this year so put a few in from last year.

Re: Freindly Foes Above the Falls

A few more. TBM, B-17, and a C-47 that actually flew and dropped paratroops of the 82nd airborne on D-Day.

Re: Freindly Foes Above the Falls

They also had some armour siting about, plus some other displays. Not a bad way to spend a few hours or a day especially when its 15 minutes down the road. Seems to get better every year. Maybe next year I'll by a photographers pass and then you get to check the aircraft out early in the morning nice and close.

Looks like a lot of fun -- wish our shows had the photo-pass option!
