Yea the Blue Angles Bearcat is sweet huh...
Very short lived for the Angles at the time.

Re: Lone Star Flight Museum Fly-Day

How is this for a ride on the wild side Skunky..
It's not the Bearcat but it's a Angle.
Look there it's Alcatraz.

Re: Lone Star Flight Museum Fly-Day

That's one of my favorite Blue Angels photos, JP...If there were still prisoners at Alcatraz, they'd be getting (or narrowly missing out on) a heckuva show....

The Blues only flew the Bearcat for just under 2 seasons, although they did retain one known as 'Beetle Bomb', which was painted in yellow, for a few more years...The Hellcat (the team's first aircraft) didn't even last a full season before being replaced by the F8F..Incidentally, the aircraft with the longest history with the team is it's current mount, the F/A-18A, which they've been using since 1987..The Hornets flown by the Blues are the among the oldest in the Navy's inventory..It comes as a surprise to many that the Blue Angels do not fly factory-fresh aircraft.

Re: Lone Star Flight Museum Fly-Day

Great pics! I love the Lone Star Flight Museum, it's really a top-notch facility. Awesome exhibits and so many historic planes that are still flying. It really adds to the experience.
