| P-40 Flying Tigers R.t. Smith 1:48 Pictures I have been searching a long time for a 1:48 P-40 Flying Tigers that looks really nice and has the right markings. I know alot of you guys don't like the Spec Cast Fighters but believe it or not i think the Spec Cast P-40 of R.T.Smith was the best one Spec Cast has made. They only made a 750 of R.T. Smith's P-40. Just Look at the Pictures. I was lucky to find one this nice and it was still in the box never opened until now.The price....19.00... Enjoy. JP ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: P-40 Flying Tigers R.t. Smith 1:48 Pictures That is a good looking fighter. I like some of the specast stuff. Their P-40's and F-86's are very nice. | |||||||||||||

| Re: P-40 Flying Tigers R.t. Smith 1:48 Pictures I also think the P-40s are Speccast's nicest models, (and well worth the $20 you paid for it) followed closely by the P-38s. There are some awesome Spec bargains to be found now, coming from someone who used to pay $60 for the silly things (IN the diecast dark ages, when choices were few, and prices sky high)I have the Chuck Older version and it's a beaut. Have you checked out Carousel's P-40s, Starman? I have Boyington's and it's nice, too. | |||||||||||||

Yes i have seen them i like them but the only thing that bothered me was the gun mounts on the nose.Too much of a gap. I almost got one until i found this one. Spec Cast did ok when they first started out...But now they seem to be losing their value. JP

I was gonna direct you to one dealer who still have a stock of this, but after getting a sticker price shock ($119.99 to be exact)....guess I better not. I love my Spec Cast F-86s ( I own 3 of 'em) and the pad printed graphics are much better quality than the Franklin/Armour ones.

JP, ..If you're talking about the gap where the edge of the mounts meet with the cowl I can assure you that it's far more noticeable in photographs than on the actual model itself (kind of like the panel lines always are). Strangely enough, as much as I've looked at mine in the past 10 months I've never noticed it at all..Now that I've checked a couple of pics I took of it, I think I can see what you're talking about. But looking at the model, I practically need a magnifying glass to detect it...This is one of my favorites, although it cost more than 3 times the Speccy...(Good thing it was a present).
