Sunstar Models

Hey,
Do any of you out there collect Sunstar models? If you do, please post some information + pics, if you can. I have heard of them but never seen them. I've heard that they have a 1/72nd scale F-117 Nighthawk.

Many Thanks,
Admin

Re: Sunstar??

Yeah, I would actually like to get the one with our friend Skunx on the tailfins. The unfortunate brand evaporated after making the F-117, F-18, F-16. These two latter releases were inferior compared to Dragon or later moulds. Only the F-117 prevails because it is so far the only diecast available in 1/72.

The F-117 models by Sunstar are the best models. Gram 'em while you can.

Re: Sunstar??

I have a couple Sunstars, and concur with the recommendation of their 1/72 F-117. It is a good depiction of a Stealth, the only flaw is that mine's gear was a bit wobbly, even though it is fixed in the down position. Sunstar also makes a pretty decent USN Adversary Hornet, it is actually my favorite early model Hornet. The gear on that one is fixed down and is solid, from what I heard Sunstar actually modeled their 1/72's based on Franklin Mint-Armour's 1/48 Molds. I would avoid Sunstar's F-16s, Witty's and Dragons are much more detailed, and come with more payload options.

At any rate, I say get the Stealth, and if you like Adversaries, grab the Hornet as well.

Re: Sunstar??

I had a sunstar F-117 Skunkworks and liked it really well until my son took off with it when he moved.
I just wish it had a stand to put it in-flight mode..

Just got the same plane and I'd really recommend it. It's decaled but they're some of the nicest ones I've ever seen. Very well done. The mold itself seems very good and crisp but I'm no expert. The flat black paint is excellent.

Fixed down UC and laser guided bomb doors fixed open with bombs showing is fine by me too. Get one.

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.
