Re: Delprado boat planes

Huh. That's interesting. I know these as Model Power, not Del Prado, models, but a quick check on the Web reveals that they were indeed also released through Del Prado. Maybe another MH member can shed some light on the Model Power-Del Prado relationship.

In the meantime, here's the Model Power Airliner Collection page. It looks like you can order the models direct, but you should be able to order them from any retailer that sells Model Power, and they'll be cheaper. I have the S.66, and it's nice for a teeny 1:200 scale model, mostly for the novelty factor.

That's odd two brand names carrying the same items!? I also understand that there's a WW II Tank range under Del prado.Anyway, thanks for the info Folgore and i'll take your advise to order from any retailer.

I'm guessing it's something similar to the Altaya / IXO deal. Either Model Power owns the moulds and let Del Prado repackage and sell the models, or the manufacturer that does own the moulds cut a deal with Del Prado (hopefully with Model Power's OK). In any case: six of one, half a dozen of the other -- they're the same models.

Re: Delprado boat planes

They are the same models.

When I first began collecting, and bought my first IL-II from eBay UK, it came through the DelPrado subscription service. I knew nothing about Model Power until later, by way of the Model Hangar I. I bought a few DelPrado, then found the Model Power site. The DelPrado from the UK came with a booklet, and no box. They were packaged with the neat and informative booklet, but packaged just like Model Power. No box. Made in China.

Since then, I have not heard of DelPrado planes. I guess they are still out there, in Europe.

The Delprado planes are very rare but you can still get some AFV series.I think they are the only brand that does the Kawanishi; Dornier and etc Quality wise i think they are not bad for the price and the type of planes they sell..

Re: Delprado boat planes

delPrado Japan produced the entire line first. You can see them all in the Wings900 database. After delPrado went belly-up (in late 2004 or early 2005), it seemed like the toolings bounced around for a while (either that, or the rights to release planes produced from the toolings; It seemed like they appeared briefly in promotional materials associated with Herpa, Altaya/deAgostini, IXO and ModelPower). In late 2005, ModelPower started re-releasing them (much to the relief of those of us who couldn't stomach the cost premium demanded by Japanese exporters).

On a related note, I seem to recall that Deutschepost commissioned a special Condor in proto-type colors, without the swasi (apparently the only accurate LH pre-Nazi livery to appear on the Condor).
