Re: Apache Longbow

I like them both. I've got the 1:48 scale from Franklin Mint and like it a lot.

Re: Apache Longbow

Are you looking to get the older 1:48 Apache from FOV or the new (not yet released) 1:72 Apache from FOV?

Don't do what BDE tells you to do. Do what BDE would want you to do.

Yup the 1:48 Apache from FOV. I understand that the FOV comes with two pilots whilst the SunStar has none. Both looks awesome to me but i have not seen them in the flesh.

I second Aero! You can't beat the FM Longbow. IiRC, it's officially licensed by McDonnell Douglas/Boeing. Very nicely detailed, lots of heft and more realistic than the FOV or Sunstar.

Re: Apache Longbow

How much does the FM's Apache costs ?? The FOV and the Sunstar in Singapore costs USD 70 and USD58 respectively.

I think it retails anywhere from $120 to $195. I got one on Ebay for $45 shipped on Ebay.

That wasn't the "dusty" one was it I've got my eye out for one on ebay, too, I got the FM vietnam Huey for $40-40 shipped new in the box.

You could also go for one of the CDC Armour Collection 1:100 apaches, which seem to be pretty popular but somewhat hard to find these days.

I'll cop to it, BUT Pappy, it wasn't just plain old dust. That was shelf dust naturally and lovingly applied over many months (years?) to get that perfect customized "in-the-field" look.....sorta like a nice wash applied to a factory-fresh model!

Besides, I cleaned it up and it's perfect! Nothing that one industrial strength blower, 10 sheets of 40 Grit Sandpaper, one blowtorch, three midgets, two icepicks , a bottle of Simple Green and a three legged Chihuahua couldn't fix.

Seriously though, it cleaned up nicely and the price was right.....so there!

Another good option (in 1/72 scale) is the Italeri diecast Apache Longbow. It comes in U.S. or UK liveries. You can find these on Ebay for between $10 -$20. I think I bought 2 for $20 awhile back.
