Another good option (in 1/72 scale) is the Italeri diecast Apache Longbow. It comes in U.S. or UK liveries. You can find these on Ebay for between $10 -$20. I think I bought 2 for $20 awhile back.

LOL! Good snag I guess -- you are a braver man than I! But, oh man, you should have done a before and after pic for us! That would have been a riot!

The Italeri Apache is 1:72 scale, not 1:48. And it is a nice aircraft. You might want to paint over the factory 'showroom' markings on it.
