That is one impressive model, and makes for a great looking display.

Re: Takara TMW A6M5 Zero 1/48

OK, you guys talked me into it: I have this on order from an eBay shop. No painting, minimal gluing... seems like the kind of model I can commit to. Best of all, I had about $25 in my PayPal account -- I have no idea where it came from -- so as far as I'm concerned, it's costing me around $25, not $50+. Of course, since it's on a slow boat from Japan, I probably won't see it until high summer, but it gives me something to look forward to.

Thats what sold me!! There is only one tricky part. If you plan to put it together, I found the tail piece and engine require a bit of gluing. There is an anchor shaped piece with the tail piece that you're supposed to wedge in to allow it to attach to the cockpit fuselage without gluing. a bit tricky, but be sure to interpret the instructions carefully!

I think this is money well spent. I finally got a decent display case for the skeletal version of my zero.

hmm I just noticed the windshield fell off!! but oh well. its all good now.

That model is really sharp. A Spit or Hurricane would be equally cool.

A Defiant with its turret would make for pretty interesting model too.

Re: Takara TMW A6M5 Zero 1/48

Got my Zero last week -- very quickly for the cheapest shipping option from Japan. I'm really impressed with this kit. One QC issue: One of the cowling-mounted machine guns was AWOL. The seller (plug: radsan777; I'd buy from him again) quickly mailed off a replacement piece and now my kit's complete. All I need now is a few quiet hours to put it together, humming Japanese folk songs as I do.
