More Diecast Seaplanes and Flying Boats Anyone?

Because they are trickier to manufacture and less well known, hence riskier propositions, only a few WW II seaplanes or flying boats have been produced by diecast-makers recently. These include Model Power's "Rex", The Franklin Mint"s "Rufe", and Corgi's PBY, Swordfish and Short Sunderland. Altaya is planning to do 1:72 scale versions of the Grumman Duck and Japan's "Pete", but that's about it. Yet many of us would snap up additional entries from this genre in a heartbeat if they became available. Some of the most desirable planes in these categories include:the U.S.Kingfisher, Mariner and Coronado; Great Britain's Walrus; Italy's Cant Z.506; Germany's Arado 196, HE-115, DO-18, DO-24 and B&V 138 and Japan's Jake, Paul, Emily and Mavis. Which two of these -or any others I failed to list- would be your top picks in 1:72 or 1:48 scale?

I'll take a fargan F2M Pete any day of the week. And a Kingfisher would be purrrfect. And that 2 float Arado job, the one where the engine falls off in the old Wings video. The Ar 196 I think it was. That be a hot one.

I'd love to see a Grumman Duck, OS2U, and PBY in 1/48

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I just bought a 1:48 yellow willow sea plane made by marushin. It is a diecast kit and it looks super nice.

I would love to see a pre war spitfire with floater. I believe they were made for an annual race before the WWII started.

I'll take one of each, please!

On the Desired Planes & Paint Schemes thread, Planenutsfrog and I suggested a Schneider Trophy Racers series -- interwar floatplane racers. Those planes are so snazzy and sexy (and have such a great history) that I think they'd appeal even to casual collectors.

Re: More Diecast Seaplanes and Flying Boats Anyone?

Great to have any of those floatplanes as diecast Fly! A folding wing Arado would be cool. My first choices in 1/72 would be the Sunderland and Betty! Long shots I know, but wouldn't they be magnificent? Grumman Duck would do nicely too.
