Re: More Diecast Seaplanes and Flying Boats Anyone?

MD, is Duck a pet name for the Grummann OS2U Kingfisher.? As quoted in a Dirty Harry movie, 'Ineeds to know!'

Swoop, the "Duck" is the affectionate name for the Grumman floatplane! The Kingfisher is manufactured by the Vought Company which is the same mfg for the F4U Corsair.

TV Trivia time:
How many of you remember the series from the late 70's called "Legend of the Gold Monkey" which stars Stephen Collins ( Capt. Decker of the movie Star Trek: TMP)? He flew a trusted Grumman Duck floatplane from that series if I recall correctly. It's very sad to see the plane sits rusting on the back lot of Universal Studios theme park in Southern California.

We will be in clover when Corgi eventually release the JU-52 floatplane; this year maybe?

Thumbs up Re: More Diecast Seaplanes and Flying Boats Anyone?

I am a big seaplane fan also. The rumor of the Altaya Duck is interesting I hope they do a good job of it. And how about a 1/72 Grumman Goose. I have the Texaco/Ertl Goose in 1/48 and it is not bad. And a Beaver on floats too

I'd love to see a Grumman Duck made in 1/48 as well.

Re: More Diecast Seaplanes and Flying Boats Anyone?

I picked up a Russian M6P-2 seaplane in 1/72 diecast off E-bay a few months back just because it is a seaplane. It's made in Russia, not sure of the manufacture or anything else as all the writing on the box is Russian. Tried to get some info off the net about this aircraft but not much luck. Closest I could find would be a MBR-2, which is not quite right. Not much detail, single engine mounted above the wing in pusher configuration. It also has a rear or mid upper turret, closed in cockpit. Will post picks when I get a chance.

I have been dreaming of a 1/48 F1M for such a long time... Perhaps Marushin will make one...?

As far as 1/72 is concerned, for me it has to be "Germany first":

1) He 115
2) Arado 196
3) Do 24

And last but not least, the Supermarine Walrus.
