Heck yes! That's a great little plane that came too late for WWII but did see extensive combat in Vietnam.

Re: Would you like to see a F8F BEARCAT made

Yeah, and some were passed on to the Vietnamese, who used them against the insurgents after the French left...

You know if my memory is correct did the Vietnamese Bearcat look bare metal with the star & bars markings(Bars were not white but yellow with the red in the middle) on them ?

Re: Would you like to see a F8F BEARCAT made

I would love to see an F7F and an F8F in 1/48th and 1/72nd. It would round out all of the cats by Grumman.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I know Thailand had silver Bearcats, as well as the dark blue ones.
I'm not sure, but I think the Vietnamese birds were dark blue (at least initially). And, given the time period, I think the national insignia was a roundel similar in design to Thailand's, except the colors were orange and crimson.

Re: Would you like to see a F8F BEARCAT made

Doing some further research, VN did use both silver and dark blue F8F's.
The first VNAF unit became active in 1956. This was during the time of the orange/crimson roundel and fin flash, although during the late fifties they had started to introduce the modified star and bar, which became the mainstay insignia by 1962.

You know, I don't think I've ever said "no" to one of these polls

I was just thinking the same thing.

For Skunky's sake, yes.

NOW STOP DISSIN' THE DUKE!

Elmer, I'll actually sit through Flying Tigers, Flying Leathernecks and The Green Berets if someone would put out a Bearcat, in honor of the Duke, who I'm certain would have flown an F-8F had it come on the scene just a little bit earlier...
