Re: AIRCRAFT (WWII Fighters) -Load display

I was going to mash "fully loaded" but then chose "depends" because, well, it depends on the aircraft type to me -- I like the "pure fighters", such as the Spit, Hurri, 109, 190, P-51 to be clean, or just have drop tanks (I display most of my Mustangs with the tanks on -- GMP, EI, Dragon, Corgi). And I like to display the 109 and 190 fighters "clean" -- though, I would love to see a good 1:72 "Jabo" 190... I have FM's 1:48 Graf with bombs and center tank, and like the look of it (though I would have preferred this livery in a "clean" or drop-tank only config).

I like to have the "Jugs" fully loaded for sure (oh-boy, did I just say that .... ) I would love to see Dragon come out with a weapons pack for the WWII fighters -- rockets, bazooka tubes, different bombs, etc., and of course, pilots (but please, with no legs below the knees, as I feel really guilty doing the amputations myself....)

With Modern stuff -- the more "toys" the better, I want them fully laden with fuel tanks and every bit of mud-moving or air-to-air pyrotechnic devices they can handle... Oh, and want it all "optional" not pre-glued, thank-you (are you listening FM?)

Re: AIRCRAFT (WWII Fighters) -Load display

I like displaying a mix. For example, I like putting a P-51 with drop tanks next to a clean Mustang. I think the contrast adds to the display.

Flexibility is the key to airpower.
Indecision is therefore the key to Airpower.

I agree with bsmith. It depends upon the aircraft also. P 51's I tend to like clean, P 40's look good with a bomb, and for a P 47...load it up!

Re: AIRCRAFT (WWII Fighters) -Load display

It all depends on how I display the model. If it is Wheels up I am limited by what the stand allows me. Given a choice I put everything I can on a model so my wheels down displays include fuel tanks and ordinance. The wheels up mode, however, often does not offer this opportunity.
