| 1/24th P-51D by Merit Intl. I've been thinking about getting one of these and the Bf-109, and was wondering what is the quality like for those of you who owns one. I appreciate any inputs/feedback. Thanks. | |||||||||||||

| Re: 1/24th P-51D by Merit Intl. I bought that one right there for my dad last year and it's ok...I just didn't care to much for the weathering on it..But my dad loved it. I like the 1/18 scale a little better since that's what i have as well. I just picked up a Merit Hartmann 109 last Christmas for my dad as well to go along with the Shangrila...Dogfight style in the shop area. JP | |||||||||||||

| Re: 1/24th P-51D by Merit Intl. I have the Hartmann 109.. It is nice, basically a built model.. I modified mine by adding brass tubing for the 20mm wing cannons, added a swastika, antenna wire, and added exhaust stains which greatly improved it.. I am considering getting rid of mine though becasue it really doesn't go with anything else I collect.. | |||||||||||||

| Re: 1/24th P-51D by Merit Intl. I got Shanri-La a month ago and have it at work. Personally I like the weathering on it. It is not a heavy-style weathering. The model is a lot lighter than you would think, even knowing it is plastic. In this respect, it reminds me very much os a standard plastic-kit model. The gear is fixed in the down position, which for me is OK. Cockpit detail is only so-so. The canopy is loose (not attached to the fuselage by anything) so you may want to glue it on in either open or close position if you will manipulate the model in the future. The packaging is very basic (this is one that I threw away), and the dorsal radio antenna was broken on mine when I received it. Easy fix, though. Overall, for the price, a pretty nice display model, particularly from a distance. FVD | |||||||||||||
