How does one get an exclusive made?

I was wondering if any of you knew whom to contact regarding special editions or exclusives. I'd really like to have aircraft from a particular squadron made, and for more than sentimental reasons.

I am an Air Battle Manager at Hill AFB. My unit controls F-16s from the Active Duty AF, Air Guard and AFRES on a daily basis, but the best unit I have ever controlled is the 419th FW. I have looked everywhere, but can't find an F-16 in 419th markings. They are due to be merged with the 388th soon, and they will lose their jets early next year. I think they deserve a model.

Any ideas?

Re: How does one get an exclusive made?

Are you looking for an existing model but in the 419th FW sheme? Or are you looking for a custom build from the ground up?

Either. Both.

Probably a new build would be better in order to depict their most current livery.

Re: How does one get an exclusive made?

I would think the people at Witty Wings would be your best bet but you might try Cyberhobby/Dragon. Try them both by email and see what happens. My guess is that they may want a minimum order of 500-1000 models. I don't know of anyone who would do a one off (or even 5) unless somebody on here (????) would if you sent them the planes.

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

500-1000 is actually what I was thinking. Thanks for the help!

I would contact the Flying Mule or Corgi directly. I have never seen any evidence that Witty or Dragon do "smaller" custom requests. Corgi certainly does and the Mule has done it a number of times in partnership w/ Corgi. Anything under 2000 really is going to be considered a small order. Hope this helps.

Problem is Woodman, he's looking for an F-16 and Corgi doesn't make one yet.

Re: How does one get an exclusive made?

From what I've heard, Draggin' only does exclusives for Cyber-Hobby... no exceptions. That leaves Witty, maybe Model Power? I know they've done exclusives for units before. I think they did a C-130 for an ANG unit somewhere once.

Well this might be a stretch... If you could have custom decals made for the markings you want (You can even do this yourself w/ a GOOD color copier, blank decal film sheets, and the art work). Then if you could buy a group of F-16 w/ the correct paint w/o markings. Like I said a stretch but maybe Dragon or Witty would sell you the 16's in that state...
Hey I'm tryin here!
