Do you keep your boxes ?

This has been a subject on many threads about the boxes.
It also seems that if we want a heavier and better boxes the
price will go up on the product we buy.
So i thought about making a poll to find out how many of the
collectors keep the boxes.

Re: Do you keep your boxes ?

We should also conduct a survey to find out how many people like to twirl the propellers on their diecast warbirds.....and if so, how many hours a week on average would they say they spend twirling their propellers?

Re: Do you keep your boxes ?

I keep boxes for future transport of my models only. Not for any other reason.

Re: Do you keep your boxes ?

You'd be surprised how many people don't keep them. I've had customers walk in buy an item and remove it right then and there and ask us to toss the box for them. We usually attempt some sort of intervention. It just about makes you nauseous to witness it.

"Ok, change that production number from 2100 to 2099 because that model is now worthless"

I wouldn't say that, mhackl. The model is worth something to the buyer. As amazing as it may seem, some of us actually couldn't care less about our models retaining their "value." I don't see my models as part of my retirement account. I buy them because I like airplanes (and tanks), and that's it.

I'm really fascinated by the fact that this appears to be a difficult concept for some to accept...

Re: Do you keep your boxes ?

Every one, but ONLY because I'll need to move them. If they came in plain brown cardboard one, it'd be just as well. Best packaging is the simple kind--open the flap, slide out the plastic tray, remove plane. Anything else often results in damaging the packaging, and making it hard to put it back in the box and survive transport.

Re: Do you keep your boxes ?

Not only do I consider boxes necessary for storage of my aircraft, I enjoy it when a manufacturer has taken the time to make the box something special. For example, I really like the Flying Mule Special Edition boxes.

Re: Do you keep your boxes ?

I keep my boxes only for transport also. If the boxes have flaps so that the actual model can easily be seen, I really don't see the point in having expensive graphics. I definetly would not want to pay more for them.

My models are also not an "investment." I resent the idea of paying more for something that someone has arbitrarily assigned a number to.

Re: Do you keep your boxes ?

I have probably 98% of all my boxes mainly for storage or transport.. Now if you were to break it down by Manfacturers my information would look like this: 100% Corgi, 90% dragon, 100% Gemini Aces, 100% HobbyMaster, 0% Witty, and 90% IXO
