| ERA: Profiles in Diecast - Poll 3.1 (Hypothetical)
Last edited by DADoser : 03-23-2007 at 05:36 PM.
Reason: added content
If (hypothetical here) the diecast aircraft market included (approx.) equal numbers of models in each ERA in the poll - AND equal number of models in each ERA had been avail. when you first began collecting..... What ERA would dominate your collection? If your answer is the same as it was for POLL 3, please vote in this poll for comparison of the market reality vs. potential. I apologize in advance to the civilian aircraft hobbysts/collectors on the forum - as I have no knowledge of significant eras/dates for the developement of civilian aircraft and creating poll choices.

| Re: ERA: Profiles in Diecast - Poll 3.1 (Hypothetical) I would still be a WWII guy - but I'm sure I would have a lot of WW I models as well. (Would also probably have a couple more Cold Warriors in the collection as well - in 1:72 - MIG 15 (besides the Matchbox) to go with my Corgi F-86; MIG 17; MIG 19; ??? | |||||||||||||

| Re: ERA: Profiles in Diecast - Poll 3.1 (Hypothetical) WWII will still dominate my collection due to the fact that this era is what the manufacturers have concentrated on producing more subjects from that era. However, I am open to ALL Eras of aerial military conflicts so all things considered, I will be purchasing military aircraft from all eras and conflict. | |||||||||||||

| Re: ERA: Profiles in Diecast - Poll 3.1 (Hypothetical) Again, the time-spans don't fit my interest quite right. I'd put the focus on the three decades between 1930 and 1960. The "Golden Age" of flight! | |||||||||||||

| Re: ERA: Profiles in Diecast - Poll 3.1 (Hypothetical) DADoser, Hey there. WWII has always been the era of planes that fascinated me more than any other. However, a close second for me would be Cold War planes. F-100, F9F Panther, F-8, Mig 17, Mig 19 and Hustler are all planes that I would scarf up. Plus, I'm sure I'd find plenty of room for some ofthe unmanned rocket interceptors that the airforce was considering. (Kinda of the Cold War equvilent of Luftwaffe 1946 planes.) The amount of change going on during this period is almost as grand as the change during WWII from biplanes to early jets and almost as interesting. | |||||||||||||

| Re: ERA: Profiles in Diecast - Poll 3.1 (Hypothetical) That was a tough one because I like my collection to be balanced and ideally would represent all eras more or less equally (pre-WWII would have fewer models just because there were fewer aircraft types back then). I voted for Modern Era (post Vietnam) because I do like the advanced technology jets, a couple of which I got to fly in the Air Force. But it wouldn't be a significant domination over the other eras. I do wish there were a lot more types available from the modern era. From US and UK point of view, the situation is not too bad, with the F-14/15/16/18, F-117, A-10, F-4 and F-22 all being available (US), Tornado, Jaguar, Buccaneer, Harrier and EF2000 Typhoon (UK). But a lot of MiGs, Sukhois, Tupolevs, Mils (helicopters), Mirages, and the Rafale are still missing, not to mention Sweden (Viggen, Draken, Gripen), Chinese (A-5, J-7, J-8, J-10, J-11) and even Japanese fighters (F-1, F-2) . Even in the US category, I'd like to see: A-6, EA-6B, A-7, E-2C, KC-135, KC-10, SR-71, U-2, RF-4, and the list goes on and on... I'd have to agree though that right now the most under-represented era, compared to the number of types actually flyng back then, is the Post WWII to Vietnam era, the late 40s, the 50s and 60s. That needs to be rectified. FVD | |||||||||||||

Same for me. I have all the WWII staples and would really like to collect some more 50's and 60's jets. I love my MiG-21 and F104!
