PILOTS/CREW: Profiles in diecast - Poll 6

What's your perspective on pilots/crew in your diecast aircraft models?

(I know we did this on the old Hanger - but with all the other questions and new members, I thought it would fit in and be interesting as well.)

Re: PILOTS/CREW: Profiles in diecast - Poll 6

I'd like to always have the option, and will pay a little extra for that.

If forced to chose one versus the other, I prefer with crew/pilot, but it's not a huge factor in my decision to buy.

And please, diecast companies: try to make them look human, and even like pilots/aircrew if possible.

I prefer pilots/crews only for larger scale diecasts - 48th/32nd/35th and beyond. You could appreciate the little details a little more. That's my take on it.

Re: PILOTS/CREW: Profiles in diecast - Poll 6

If they are well done - I like them. If they are done poorly or not too scale (too big or too small), I'd rather have them left out. I don't mind displaying my planes in flight without pilots.

MB did the crew well (IMHO) and so does Corgi from time to time (Swordfish is a great example). On the other hand, I passed on the latest Corgi F-4 because I thought the crew was so lame.

Re: PILOTS/CREW: Profiles in diecast - Poll 6

I prefer no pilots in my birds. I want to look at the airplane, not some plastic model of the pilot.

One of the things that I like best about Habby Master and Dragon is that they offer open cockpits and details inside the cockpit. Just another step up as far as I'm concerned.

Anything for a weird life.

I prefer OPTIONAL crew -- I display a smaller percentage of my models "in flight" and they just look a bit odd with no one at the stick...

Re: PILOTS/CREW: Profiles in diecast - Poll 6

I would prefer optional crews, BUT I simply will not buy a model that can only be discplayed in-flight if it hasn't got a pilot (sorry Corgi). Of course, none of this applies to the civies, as you can't see the crews in 1/144 or 1/400 scale anyway.

Cant beat Habbies and Dragon for cockpit detail. Why dont Corgi offer this?
The Dragon 262 has good cockpit detail and was cheaper than Corgis.
I would like to see an effort made to produce quality pilot figures and crew. Is it so difficult?
The old Airfix kits had better pilots than Corgis poor offering. I think Corgi made the mistake of thinking no one was bothered much about the pilot figures so just did a representation on the cheap.
