Re: AIRCRAFT: Profiles in diecast - Poll 4

And my number one airplane is........P-51's.....39 I count displayed right now, including Corgi Showcase Nose Art, Corgi, Witty, Dragon, GMP and 1/48th plastic models. I have at least another 15 still in boxes, awaiting a larger showroom. I just don't think the A-10s, P-61's, and A-1's will ever be able to catch up!

My collection covers every era from WWII to present, no real hard fast favorite.

Re: AIRCRAFT: Profiles in diecast - Poll 4

Counting just one type of model (which I believe the poll implies ) I say the Fokker DR.1. I have both Matchbox versions and all Model Power versions in both scales. I am not crazy for Fokkers just took advantage of the variety of offerings.

I have 7 Fokker Dr.1's and will be getting two more when Carousel has the others due out next month.
It would be nice to see a little more WWI aircrafts too.
But still i don't think anything is going to catch my P-51 collection..

Thumbs up Re: AIRCRAFT: Profiles in diecast - Poll 4

I'm surprised the Fw-190 hasn't got a vote yet as it was one of the best fighters of WWII.

Well I really like the Fw190. The problem is I like other things too and the other consideration is the number of models available. Just maybe, in 1/72 (I'm mostly into 1/72), there are more Spits and Mustangs than anything else.

Re: AIRCRAFT: Profiles in diecast - Poll 4

Actually, reviewing this thread I take your point Aircrafty. I've got more Spits and Mustangs than anything else but others are focussed on other interests. Corsairs, Stukas, 109s. To each his own. The 190 is a bit of a surprise then.

Re: AIRCRAFT: Profiles in diecast - Poll 4

I like the Axis rides I mean, come on who couldn't love a 109 or 190 I also have ALL the corgi Stukas!

One thing worth noting about this poll. You will clearly see Spitfire, P51s and 109s seem to dominate. Is that because you like the plane or because the manfuctures make SO many of these types? Case in point is Gemini Ace (Spitfires, 109s, and p51s).

In my case, it's just because I LOVE Mustangs (what's not to love about them?) and am hopeful that some day some one will make the "perfect" example...

Did we already forget the recent pic of the flat cowl on that REAL P 51?
