Re: ERA: Profiles in diecast - Poll 3

WWII, no question about it. Could have been better if somebody decided to make decent models of the Soviet, Italian, and Japanese aircraft.

Sergey

I agree ,however it appears that the makers do not think there is a market for them, I would strongly disagree.

Re: ERA: Profiles in diecast - Poll 3

WWII dominates, but cold war era models would if there were enough of them on the market to do so.

The thing I don't get is that there is so MUCH CHOICE in the plastic kit world, while we are being treated as poor cousins who don't deserve more than the usual offerings. God bless, Witty (yes, I've said Witty), HM, and Corgi (Lysander, I don't think that Dragon will ever make such a model) so we have more than the standard fare of Me-109E, P-51D, and Spitfire MkI and V.

Sergey

Re: ERA: Profiles in diecast - Poll 3

I voted "WW II," which is accurate, but I do have a lot of the modern era, Vietnam, and cold-war models. My collection is fairly balanced (also includes some WW I subjects. It would be a lot more if it weren't for the dearth of available models. Still will never approach the other eras, though).

I get a little tired of the fact that so much diecast has been done from WWII and little to nothing has been done to represent the twenty years immediately after. IMHO, this dynamic period represents the largest leap in the evolution of military aircraft. This period also hosts some of the best paint schemes ever. Are we really gonna start reaching into WWI before the jet age? Give me Thunderjets/Thunderstreaks, Shooting Stars, the entire Century Series, Panthers, Cougars, Scorpions....there are so many that they're too troublesome to list.

...and just think of all of the Soviet aircraft that came about during and after this period.

I love "The Greatest Generation" too, but it's not the only one worth celebrating.

I am WWII buff, but all the era aircraft are cool. I have my favorites from all of the eras.
