Birdcage Corsairs

With Tamiya releasing thier 1/72 model of the Birdcage Corsair, I keep asking why can't Gemini, Hobby Master, or Dragon make one? I know Corgi does, but honestly it doesn't float my boat.
But this version, in two tone and three is just plain sexy. Anyone else agree we need some?

Re: Birdcage Corsairs

I agree Shawn, but personally, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Guess I'll just have to stick to my (as yet unmade) 1/48th Tamiya ones.

Re: Birdcage Corsairs

I also agree Shawn.

Hey Hornchurch... I think Tamiya's pre-built Corsair is a birdcage version... but it is pricey. The best deal I have seen is $112.00.

Hi Elmer,

Didn't know there was such a thing (from Tamiya) ???

Please elaborate......

Is that something that's available for the U.S. market only (?), 'cause the closest I've ever seen Tamiya assisting the ('Joe Public') Plastic-Modeller, is the pre-painted canopy, on the 1/48th Lancaster (w/spinning motors).

Pre-built Tamiya's are a new one on me.

Smile Re: Birdcage Corsairs

I have the Corgi FAA grey camo birdcage Corsair and I think its quite nice. I reckon I'd like to see the 'new' guys do different models that we haven't yet seen. Each to his own I guess.

Tamiya Masterworks collection are just pre-built plastic models... They have a good selection of different models from cars, to tanks, ships and planes..

Plenty common enough - mostly landbased U.S.M.C. (Marines) in the Pacific,

& carrier based R.N. (Fleet Air Arm) in the E.T.O.

Suprisingly, the F.A.A./R.N. ones had their wings clipped (& squared off), in

order to aid the tight (& limited) storage height, on (comparitively) cramped

Royal Navy Aircraft Carriers.

The crudely 'clipped' wing-tips were filled with equally crude wooden fillets,

no two fillets the same on any a/c - Eeek

hworth18 - thanks for the explanation to the unintiated (i.e.,me ).
