[STARMAN 352ND]

This came in the mail today making it my 4th Spec Cast P-40 in my collection..I have got to say these P-40's are really good.
I just wished they had a little better detail under their wings.
A little about this bare metal P-40:
The first three airplanes of the initial production order of P-40Bs was delivered with what was, at the time, the Army Air Corp's standard polished, all aluminum finish. These early planes were delivered to Wright Field at Dayton, OH, for evaluation and testing, receiving small changes in the their decoration as they were being used. Except for these initial three, all P-40 production was delivered from the Curtiss factory with some form of camouflage paint.
"The first production P-40 was flown on April 4, 1940 by Curtiss Chief Test Pilot Lloyd Child, and this batch of airplanes was delivered to the Air Corps between June 1st and October 15th of that year. The first three machines, in natural aluminum finish, went to Wright Field (Dayton, Ohio) for official Air Corps' tests; the rest were finished in overall olive drab with gray under-surfaces."
So Jim here is my first bare metal P-40...

Spec Cast eh, hmmm I feel the need to investigate further once again.

something looks ?????? the nose looks a little hmm can't put my finger on it. maybe its just that I am not used to seeing such a shiny looking P40.

this one..

Shiny, you can almost see your mug in the second one.

Do those have the concaved wings like their earlier models? I haven't seen one of their models since they came out with the Pappy Boyington Corsair.

Yes they do...That is the only thing i don't like about them...But again i don't sit around looking at the bottom of the wing..
These P-40 they make are really pretty good for being made in the late 1990's early 2000. For 14.99 you can't go wrong.

Sometimes even though a model is not strictly correct or accurate if it has shelf appeal, its great to have it on display.
This one will certainly stand out and its not that bad, just dont take it seriously, its a fun item to be enjoyed.

The world will not end if a model is not perfect, well it has not done so yet! (Maybe Corgi pushed the limits with its P51s eh Skunky)
