Outstanding new castings of 2006

Considering your purchases of models from new castings released in 2006, which would you choose as the three most outstanding castings of the year (any scale)?

Here's mine:

Corgi's Swordfish
Carousel's Dora
Gemini's Spitfire

Re: Outstanding new castings of 2006

HMMMN, this Carousel Dora seems to have caused quite a stir. I have been sucked into buying the P40 but now "SOMEBODY" tells me I must have the Dora. This is a costly purchase but then if I order the two together then the postage is a little cheaper. So maybe its time to take the plunge. My favourite buys for last year must be the following,

All the Swordfish,
Lexinigton Dauntless,
Me 262 nightfighter.

The above choices are just based on personal likes. I could list some P40s but they are the year befores models although the FOV was a step forward I hope in that maybe it will push the makers to try harder on the finer details.
I think we should all push the makers to do better with the finer stuff including pilot figures engine and cockpit detail. I rate overall Dragon is the best for good detail.

God Bless America.

The Dora stirs me everytime I look at it!! It is beautiful. If you take the plunge Jim, I sure hope you enjoy it as I do. Is the ME 262 you referred to above Dragon's?

Now, who is this 'Somebody' to whom you are referring . Believe me Jim, the Red 4 Dora is one of the best pieces of die-cast ever produced (even my daughter says it is her favourite plane with the bright red undersides - looks like a candy-cane I suspect ).

I don't think you'll be disappointed Jim. This particular FW190D was the first Carousel piece that I was tempted to buy at full retail price (Mark's pictures really do them justice ). Even with the approx. US$33 postage it was still worth every penny .

(Since then I totally went nuts at the Mule's inventory sale i.e. added two Carousel Bf109s, two 1/32 Hurricanes and an Ehrle 1/32 Bf109 - you really don't want to know the postage on that lot! .)
