Micro lettering?

With all the brouhaha on the new P-51B, I've been taking a closer look at my Corgi, Gemini and Dragon silver Mustangs. Now my old eyes sure aren't what they used to be, so I was using a magnifying glass to look over some of the details on these birds when I realized all that teensy-weensy lettering on the side of the cockpits is legible!

When did they start doing this? It seems to be only on my recent Mustangs. We better be getting some young people (read young eyes) into this hobby so somebody can appreciate this intricate detail without a microscope!

Re: Micro lettering?

Other places where you see examples of micro lettering on 1:72 scale and larger planes are the Spitfire (on the wings), the P-38 ( on the canopy and other locations on the wings and fuselage) and the BF-109 (lower engine cowling, for example ). There's also some tiny lettering on Japanese Zeros ( those red no- walk lines). These are nice touches, even if they are difficult to see, and I sometimes add them, using decal sheets, when a diecast manufacturer leaves them off.

Re: Micro lettering?

Thanks Epapazian. I've see the small lettering on the spitfire wings and such without needing anything more than my reading glasses. But that doesn't hold a candle to what's been done on the current Mustang crop. The aircraft information panels stenciled on the fuselage left side just ahead of the canopy on Dragon's 'Petie 2nd,' Gemini's 'Ferocious Frankie' and Corgi's 'Missouri Mauler' are simply amazing. I can not begin to make out the smallest lettering without a magnifiying glass. It just gets better and better!

I think some of them say "If you can read this you've spent too much on diecast."
