Re: Pre war bi-planes

Great days of aviation Jetfan . All through the thirties there were many companies making amazing aircraft and some not so amazing. I would love a Vickers Valencia in diecast!!!! Or a Widgeon ,Gamecock ,Hart ,Nimrod, Bullfinch,or a .... well so many of them. What a fine display they would make.
The wings look to be on the thick side and the chord on the Bulldog's prop is way out of scale.

I agree that some pre-WW2 biplane fightes could be done without much trouble now that Corgi has mastered the rigging installation methodology. I have heard that small size is one objection for the pooch to tackle these, but the Hawker Fury, Audax etc are actually larger than the Gladiator, so no excuse there except market potential. Even here, I would have thought that the success of the Swordfish would have allayed any concerns in that aspect.

God Bless America.

Re: Pre war bi-planes

And a GOTHA?!? (Sure, it's a comp for subscribing, but still, that thing should be pretty cool.)

See HERE for the brochure.

I rather like the look of that I-15.

Re: Pre war bi-planes

Very interesting - I may have to pick up a couple of these. Hopefully that guy in Spain will get some more.

Re: Pre war bi-planes

Any idea if these might start to turn up on this side of the Atlantic? Outside Ebay that is...

I kinda like that PT-17 they have on there....But like Skunky said in a earlier post the wheels seem too far a part.

Maybe a little careful, gentle bending would coax them into the correct position?

I be too scared to try that.....After all i'm sure the diecast is heavy on that Stearman.....You try it first... I'll watch.

It's a deal! (if I can get my hands on one, that is). Or, as Homer Simpson would say, with his index finger raised, "I'll DO it!"

Re: Pre war bi-planes

I am so excited to see this model in person. Should be here within a week. I think these will go very nicely with my existing Model Power planes and the Stearman will look sharp next to the Peashooter, Easy Models Wildcat, and the Hobbymaster SBD. Hopefully Corgi will do an early war PBY to top it all off. Bi-planes have been largely over-looked so far, but with Corgi's 1/48's coming and Altaya's newest offerings things are looking up. My goal one day is to have an entirely 1/72 collection. I just won a Boeing F4B4 on e-bay. made by Cox in the Showcase Miniatures series this colorful little(plastic) pre-war plane will look great on my monitor. It is 1:100 but I feel sure they will eventually come out in 1/72. They are too colorful to be overlooked. It is easy to pick apart all diecast models but until something better comes along these will do. I want Corgi or HM to do the PT-17 they would do a fantastic job I'm sure. It is a matter of time before all the popular single wingers are done and it's on to the bipes.....
