Yes, in 1918 Germany switched from the Maltese Cross, so one can see Fokker Triplanes with either type of cross

My two models arrived this morning from Spain thought you might want to see them.

Re: Pre war bi-planes

Thanks for sharing, johnnyboy. How well do you like them? In the pics, from what I can tell, they look both detailed in some ways, and kind of toyish in others.

They are very basic to be honest but coming from IXO/Altaya stable was expecting as much. The Stearman is the best of the two and is very heavy which as the model is so small came as a surprise, the rigging wires are a bit on heavy side but at least they put them on,Also their are no stands to display them in flying mode. What I do like are the pilots which are very well detailed. To sum up not the best diecasts in the world by a long way!, but who else is going to do a Stearman in 1/72! This seems to said a lot about products from this manufacture.

Interesting. I wonder if they'll market them in the U.K.

Re: Pre war bi-planes

The Bristol Bulldog is tempting, but that propellor looks especially crude. I wish Corgi would make one of these (or any of the Gladiator's precursors).

Thanks for the info and posting the pics!

Best,
Ted

Re: Pre war bi-planes

The wings look to be on the thick side and the chord on the Bulldog's prop is way out of scale.

I agree that some pre-WW2 biplane fightes could be done without much trouble now that Corgi has mastered the rigging installation methodology. I have heard that small size is one objection for the pooch to tackle these, but the Hawker Fury, Audax etc are actually larger than the Gladiator, so no excuse there except market potential. Even here, I would have thought that the success of the Swordfish would have allayed any concerns in that aspect.

Must be heavy..Look how badly the landing gear struts are splayed out!....Actually these look like well-detailed "caricature models".

I do wish someone would put out a nice Stearman...Love that plane.
