Non-Corgi 1:72 Harrier?

I'm relatively new to the diecast game, but in my short period of research I've pretty much decided I don't like anything Corgi has ever done(their F-4s are particularly disappointing). I've pretty well canvassed the web and found all the reputable dealers/companies websites, and it appears no one but corgi makes any style of Harrier in 1:72. Have I missed anything? Is there another company with a Harrier possibly in the works? I'd be most interested in a Falklands era GR3 or FRS1...but an AV8B would do in a pinch.

EDIT: One other thought I want to add (as is doesn't really merit its own thread). Seems to me I picked a decent time to start my little collection, as there appear to be several relatively new manufacturers turning out some real quality work! Too bad about HMs droopy A-10 tail planes though...

Re: Non-Corgi 1:72 Harrier?

Not too sure about a non Corgi 1/72 Harrier in diecast, but the Corgi Harriers are pretty decent. They have put out a combo set with a ski jump, Sea Harrier and GR-3, but it is a bit pricey and I'm not too sure if it is available yet here in the states. If I were you I'd go hunting for the older Falklands 809 Squadron SHAR, it is probably the best Harrier out there, unfortunately it is rare in the states. The next best is probably the GR-3, followed closely by the USMC Ace of Spades. There is however an Armour 1/100 AV-8B, available in either USMC or RAF liveries, and Fabbri puts out a 1/100 Sea Harrier in either La Muerte Negra dark gray, and a gray over white 801 Squadron prewar bird. These 1/100s are available relatively cheaply, but they are gear up only, and aren't nearly as nice as Corgi's releases.

Re: Non-Corgi 1:72 Harrier?

Speaking of the upcoming ski jump Harrier set does anyone know if the planes included are new ones or re-issues of some of the previous Harriers?

Re: Non-Corgi 1:72 Harrier?

Thanks for the info skysurfer. Maybe if I saw some good close-ups of the ski-jump harriers it's change my mind about corgi, but I can't find any...As for your 1/100 scale suggestions, I prefer to keep all my models in the same scale (1/72).

It isn't out yet so all you can do is go look at the Tricatus pre-production shots: http://www.tricatus.co.uk/aa39901.htm

No 'winders on the FRS1? Oh well I guess I'll just wait and see what the future holds...

I like the NASA Harrier too, Fly.....It's a nice reminder of the first Harrier performance I ever saw (Ames/Moffett, of course)....It's definitely a bit different, and whenever I look at it I have the urge to cover my ears.

I have a Corgi FRS1 (AA32410) and it has Sidewinders. A very nice model, with the older, brighter RN livery on it. Highly recommended.

Re: Non-Corgi 1:72 Harrier?

Welcome Colt. The Corgi Harriers are excellent IMHO. The weathered Sea Harrier (AA32406) and (AA 32403) AV8 USMC both have Sidewinders fitted. RAF GR3 (AA32411) has also a nice weapon load. All three are worth having and look great on my 'fast(ish) movers' shelves.
